He planned for a new Via de Cristo movement in Colorado and called us to action!

A letter of request to accept a new VdC chapter was forwarded to the National Lutheran Secretariat in September 2006 and written confirmation was received that this request to affiliate with the NLS was formally approved!

The first organizational meeting of Via de Cristo of the Rockies was held on Saturday, 18 November, 2006 at Faith Community Lutheran Church in Longmont, Colorado.

This meeting accomplished the review and approval of the forms for incorporation under the laws of Colorado, the drafting of bylaws, and the direction to establish bank accounts.

Lutheran Via de Cristo of the Rockies became a legal entity in the State of Colorado on November 28th, 2006. VdCR incorporation documents may be found here .

The second organizational meeting of VdCR was held on Saturday, 20 January, 2007 at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Centennial, Colorado.

This meeting resulted in the approval of the forms necessary for Tax Exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service, the formal adoption of a Conflict of Interest policy, approval of VdCR Bylaws (to include Secretariat Roles and Responsibilites), and the election of the first Secretariat for VdCR.

The IRS paperwork was completed, signed and sent to the IRS on 1 February, 2007. With this submission VdCR could accept tax deductible donations.

This meeting also was the forum chosen for presentation to VdCR of a check for $3000.00 as a grant from the Faith Community Lutheran Church, First Fruits Foundation to assist with the startup costs of VdCR.

The first official meeting of the duely elected Secretariat for Via de Cristo of the Rockies occured on March 17th, 2007 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, CO.

On March 19th, 2007 the IRS formally approved our application for Tax Exempt Status. That formal approval can be found here. Approval as a Sales Tax Exempt organization under the laws of Colorado was received effective April 17th, 2007.
